Yosemite has been here for millions of years. In today’s fast paced world, people find comfort in knowing that the power and beauty of Yosemite always lays waiting. At the same time, Yosemite is a spectacular wilderness made of many parts that are constantly in motion throughout the seasons. Whether your ideal Yosemite experience requires certain creature comforts, or you fancy yourself a modern day John Muir braving the elements alone, a little preparation can go a long way.

Travel Updates

This year, the National Park Service will continue experimenting with temporary "Peak-Hour Reservation" systems for day-use visitors driving into Yosemite on select days. Yosemite Valley and Highway 120 are open while Glacier Point Road and Tioga Pass are routinely closed for the winter season. For additional traffic alerts and updates from the National Park Service text "YNPTRAFFIC" to 333111. Purchase Yosemite’s new Digital Park Pass before you visit at recreation.gov.

Evergreen Location

We are blessed with a truly magical location to enjoy all of Yosemite and the surrounding Stanislaus National Forest. The Evergreen sits one mile from Yosemite’s western border and the entrance to Hetch Hetchy. Our location is along the most direct route to Yosemite from San Francisco, just 3.5 hours from the Bay Area and 3 hours from Sacramento.

Yosemite Highlights

Yosemite is one of the most spectacular places on Earth! To truly experience the Park, we recommend spending at least three days with us. Yosemite offers a diverse landscape filled with rivers, glacial carved valleys, picturesque alpine meadows, some of the world’s highest waterfalls, and the world’s largest trees and tallest granite walls.

Hetch Hetchy Valley

The Hetch Hetchy Valley is one of Yosemite’s hidden jewels, and has always been overshadowed by its twin sister, Yosemite Valley. We like it that way since Hetch Hetchy remains a serene and uncrowded oasis. And since Hetch Hetchy is right in our backyard, it’s the perfect place for a day trip or afternoon excursion during your visit.

With seven villages scattered across 20 wooded acres, there’s a lot to explore here. At Evergreen, you'll find 88 cabins along with a Restaurant, Tavern, Main Plaza, Recreation Center, Game Room, General Store, swimming pool, hot tub, games areas, nature trail, Custom Camping area and much more.

Directions & Transportation

Evergreen Lodge is easy to find! We are located on the western border of Yosemite off of Highway 120. This highway offers convenient access to the lodge from the Bay Area and all parts of California. Highway 120 also offers easy access to Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, Hetch Hetchy and the rest of Yosemite.

Seasonal Conditions

The Evergreen, located at 4,600', has picture-perfect weather nine months out of the year. Since the lodge is 600' higher than Yosemite Valley, the temperature tends to be a few degrees cooler. Most days are bright and sunny with cool, comfortable evenings. In the winter months, we generally have mild winter-weather with limited snowfall.

What to Bring

There are a few essentials that make for a more enjoyable Yosemite getaway, and your needs will vary depending on how adventurous you plan to be. In case you forget something, don’t worry - we’ve done our best to anticipate your needs with a variety of items available for rental at our Recreation Desk or for purchase at our General Store.

EV Charging Stations

It’s fun to consider that generations ago the Evergreen had a gas station. What would those travelers of yesteryear have said if someone told them that the gas station would be replaced with EV charging stations?! We’re pretty excited that the future has landed at the ‘Green, and we now offer two Level 2 chargers for use by lodge guests.

While we are all pet lovers at Evergreen, pets (other than registered service animals) are not allowed in guest rooms or on property. The lodge is set in the woods with no fences, so there is potential for conflicts with local wildlife. Pets are easily riled by forest animals, which creates disturbances for other guests and dangers for pets and wildlife.
